Christmas Came Early |
| |
|
|
|
| |
Christmas just came early with the purchase of a Leica D-Lux 4 compact camera.
We are Nikon users and we take to our weddings no less than 4 Nikon D3 cameras and a selection of fast lenses, we love our Nikon's but like everyone else we have the need for a small compact camera for family and holiday snaps.
On travels it is often not practical or safe to carry around a large digital SLR and it has been a long search for me to find a small compact camera that delivers high quality images - this camera ticked all my boxes and even floated my boat.
The important factors in my decision making was to find a camera that gave me the option of full manual control and would produce Raw files. The final choice was finely balanced between the Leica and the new excellent Canon PowerShot G11. What tipped the scales was the Leica's wonderful ƒ2.0 lens that will allow me to take photographs in most available light - my type of photography.
I just love the look of the retro leather case and the clean clutter free sleek design of the camera -
this is going to be the beginning of wonderful relationship.

Victoria & Daniel's Royal Swedish Wedding |
| |
|
|
| |
The new monogram for Crown Princess Victoria and her fiance Daniel Westling has just been announced. It was drawn by heraldic artist Vladimir A. Sagerlund and consists of Victoria's heir to the throne crown and their initials V and D.
I was approached some 3 years ago by Sweden's and Scandinavia's leading picture agency Scanpix and was asked if I could make myself available for any future date of Victoria's wedding, at the time no wedding was planned.
I am greatly looking forward to this Royal Wedding in Stockholm on June 19th 2010 and I will be one of the official accredited photographers.
As yet I do not know what part of the wedding I will photograph (the agency will have some 12 photographers) but it will definitely be a memorable experience.
It is going to be an amazing 2 weeks in Sweden next summer. The City of Stockholm is launching - Love Stockholm 2010 - and is planning events that start on Sweden’s national day, June 6th, and will continue until the wedding on June 19th.

For Norway - From Norway |
| |
|
|
| |
For Norway: Today we launched a new website for our Norwegian Weddings [ weddings.no ] this is a sister website for our Swedish Weddings [ weddings.se ]
From Norway: Thank You Norway for our London Christmas Tree, I was in Trafalgar Square yesterday and saw it ...on a somewhat bleak London Day.
Every year since 1947, a Christmas tree has been given to the people of London from the people of Norway in gratitude for Britain's support for Norway during World War II. The tree is a Norwegian spruce over 20 metres high and 50-60 years old. It is selected from the forests surrounding Oslo with great care several months, even years, in advance. |

Walking along the Thames footpath at Eton near Windsor by the so called Athens bathing area I was amused to have seen an old sign 'School Rules of the River' from 1921 for the boys at nearby Eton College, it reads:
