Gillian and Travis's Wedding

Ceremony: St Andrew's Church, Sandford on Thames, Oxford, Oxfordshire.
Reception: Oxford Town Hall, Oxford, Oxfordshire.

Wedding Dress: Sassi Holford.
Bridal Jewellery: Chambers & Beau.
Wedding Rings: Tiffany.
Groom's Attire: Kenzo.

Gillian and Travis were married yesterday on a perfect sunny Autumn day.
We are so lucky that in our vocation we meet so many really nice people and all our couples feel like that they could be our personal friends, Gillian & Travis are no exception they are a wonderful warm and kind couple and they are really meant for each other.

It was a little chaotic at their house where Travis got ready - young nephews were running around and people were dropping in on their way to the church - it was one of those nice chaotic family scenes that is always present at a wedding - nerves, excitement and anctipation ... and suddenly everyone decides to get ready at once. It was the same at Gillian's parents house where she got ready with her mum, sister (Maid of Honour) and 3 young bridesmaids.
Whist getting ready and ironing his shirt I heard Travis mutter to himself ¨I know I am going to forget something¨ he said this twice but it didn't help as he forgot some things including his speech!

Gillian was taken to the church with her father in a wonderful vintage car - a Model T Ford from 1922, it was draped with a purple ribbon which was her wedding colour theme ... unknowingly I found myself to be matching in this theme with my purple tie. Gillian and her dad was greeted at the church by her sister and her 3 sweet young bridesmaids.

The service by Bob the vicar [ Read about this in August's Blog ] went very well and he was extremely helpful to Marianne and myself to which we are very grateful. After the signing of the register Gillian and Travis left the church and petals were thrown over them by their friends and family ... more than once by the bridesmaids that thought it was great fun to pick up the petals and relive the fun again.

We took the portraits in Oxford city just behind the Town Hall where the reception was held, Gillian looked stunning in her Sassi Holford wedding dress.
The speeches went well to the relief of those that held them: The Father Of The Bride, The Groom and the Best Man. Travis overcame the problem of his lost speech by The Best Man driving back to his house and bringing back his laptop on which he had the original - a fun sight seeing the Groom reading his speech from a lap top.
This generous couple gave presents to those that had helped them, there was a tearful moment for Gillian when she received a present from Travis - I could not see what it was but it had Tiffany on the box. Gillian had also earlier in the day given Travis a present that matched her own custom jewellery from Chambers & Beau.

We left this lovely couple just after the first dance and when the band started to play and more friends started to arrive as the evening got under way.

Update:

Dear Mark and Marianne,
We are just sitting in the airport, well, I am sitting and quietly panicking whilst Travis is running around with the camera taking photo's of all the planes! We just wanted to say thank you for photographing our wedding on Saturday. You were both fantastic and the photo's on the blog are amazing!! We cannot wait to see the rest of them!!
Just as we were about to get in the taxi to leave at the end of the night Trav's Mum gave him his wallet back which she had been looking after all day and guess what was neatly folded up inside- his speech!!!!

Thank you again!

Gillian and Travis.

Kasper Cat

Stockholm wedding Photographers

Today we picked up our daughters cat Kasper from quarantine where he has been for the past 3 1/2 months. I have bloged before about the hassle we have had getting him home to the UK from Sweden - he is purring now ...I just hope he does not run away tomorrow.
The cushion is a recent impulse buy from a visit to Windsor Castle.

Gordon Ramsay

Over the years I have had the pleasure of being assigned to photograph many actors and celebrities for various magazines and newspapers. When I received this assignment I was quite excited as I am an admirer of Gordon Ramsay and have all his books.
The assignment was for Sweden's leading morning newspaper Dagens Nyheter and was because Gordon's latest cook book Healthy Appetite had just been translated into Swedish and was to be released shortly.

Gordon was very friendly and the reporter Jens Littorin and myself met up with him at his large town house in Wandsworth, London. Gordon introduced us to his family and whilst he was being interviewed I scouted around to find where I would take the pictures .... a shoot like this has to be done in about 5 minutes so it is always essential to know what you will do.

The story behind the picture.
I photographed Gordon sitting on his massive cooker (Rorgue from Paris) and then we went out in the garden to take some portraits - everything was fine except for his large boxer dog called Rumpole kept trying ''To make love'' to my legs. Looking down at him trying to push him away I could see he was dribbling all over the place ..... so much for trying to be the cool photographer - here I was photographing Gordon Ramsay and his dog was doing it to my leg - smiling Gordon helped out picked up the dog and I took pictures of him holding Rumpole - and that was the best shot of the day and the one that was published.

Marianne and I travel regularly and British Airways is our preferred airline. As we are based in London we are often at Terminal 5 - home for British Airways and Gordon's restaurant Plane Food - the views over Heathrow are amazing and it is very impressive seeing some 15 BA Jumbo Jets lined up in front of you.

Gordon and other modern day chef's have understood the need for giving people excellent food at a reasonable cost and the prices at 'Plane Food' are no different from the other Heathrow restaurants. Our recommendation is a ''White onion risotto with dolcelatte cheese'' washed down with an ice cold Italian Peroni lager.

Two tips for travelers at Terminal 5:

1) If you are fed up with airline food pick up one of the Plane Food picnics that comes in its own insulated bag (picture above) it's a treat but your worth it.
2) You can buy any of the Gordon Ramsay cook books signed for £20.

Hannah and Peter

Yesterday we had our rehearsal with Hannah & Peter, we met them at St Mary's church in Rotherhithe, London where they will be getting married.

Walking into the church we found Hannah & Peter having tea and biscuits with the rest of the congregation after the Sunday service.
There was a slight smoke haze hanging in the church from the candles and beams of sunlight were cutting in through the stain glass windows creating an amazing sight - I went to take a picture but the sun went in and the image was gone in an instant - I sometimes wish I could take pictures by just blinking my eyes.
It was nice to have met the cheerful Father Mark who will be officiating their wedding, he was very helpful and we already know that we will have some good positions in the church on the wedding day ... we get some much out of having a rehearsal with our couples before the wedding.

Looking around the church I noticed a large model wooden ship high up at the back of the church and on asking Hannah & Peter what it was they replied that it was the Mayflower and this was the church of the Mayflower ... Wow! readers of this blog will know that I love to know the history of the places we visit.
The Mayflower under the command of Captain Christopher Jones set sail on the 6th September 1620 and took pilgrims to Plymouth, Massachusetts on a grueling 66 day journey, the Mayflower returned successfully to England the following year.
Captain Christopher Jones was buried in the church graveyard on the 5th of March 1622.

We carried on to The Charing Cross Hotel on The Strand where the reception will be held. A lovely hotel with plenty of charm ... it felt colonial and there was a warm atmosphere about the place. The dining room also has a round dance floor made of marble.

We are really looking forward to their wedding which starts in the morning with a Chinese Tea Ceremony before the church wedding in Rotherhithe.

Brenda and Steven's Wedding

Ceremony: St Vedast Alias Foster Church, St Pauls, London.
Reception: Grange St Pauls Hotel, St Pauls, London.

Wedding Dress: Candy Anthony.

Brenda and Steven were married today in the City of London. This lovely couple work in the city and it was where they met so it felt natural for them to have a real London City wedding. They were married in the St Vedast -alias- Foster church - a church that has survived both the great fire of London in 1666 and the Blitz of 1940 and 1941

Brenda was slightly late but when she did arrive she looked stunning in her 50-60s inspired wedding dress by Candy Anthony.
The very cheerful Reverend Dr Alan McCormack held a very good service - he was extremely helpful to Marianne and myself and his kindness was greatly appreciated. The service went very well and their were readings from both Steven's best man and Brenda's brother.

In keeping with this city wedding we took the portraits in the underground which was good fun. There are always a lot of Japanese tourists in London but today it felt that there were more than normal - many of them will be showing their families back in Tokyo holiday snaps of this wedding couple that they photographed on the London Underground.

We left Brenda and Steven shortly after they were greeted by their friends and family on the roof top bar of the Grange St Pauls Hotel. For a couple that love London this was a perfect hotel and the bar commanded fantastic views over the city and the nearby St Pauls Cathedral.

Brudeperlen

On the way to our last weeks wedding we popped into to visit Gry and Hilde in their Bridal Salon called [ Brudeperlen ] in Jessheim near Oslo. It was great to have met Gry again ... we were Gry & Jørn's wedding photographers back in July last year - time just flies by.

Gry & Hilde have a really nice looking Salon and it was great to hear that they have just been awarded the Scandinavian agency for the Rosa Clara collection of wedding dresses.
