Helle and Paul's Wedding

Ceremony: Glava Kyrka, Glava, Sweden.
Reception: Hillringsberg Herrgård, Hillringsberg, Sweden.

Helle and Paul were married yesterday, they held their Norwegian wedding in Sweden.

We flew into Oslo the day before and drove over to Sweden, near the border it rained so hard that the windshield wipers couldn't cope with the rain and we had to stop the car ... it was a bit spooky standing still in the thick of a Norwegian forest in the middle of nowhere in the dark - we wondered how the weather would be on the wedding day but on waking we were relieved to see that it was overcast with sunny spells.

It was great to have returned to one of our favourite churches and to have met again the very friendly church warden Rolf Eneroth and Charlotte Hartvig Lund the vicar.
Helle and Paul are a lovely couple and their wedding went perfectly. Their son Francis was a bit mischievous and played around the alter, I captured a shot of him standing on Helle's wedding dress with her veil over his head .... it is going to be in one of my top ten favourite images taken this year.
Paul was not that nervous during the service but he did say that he was very nervous driving Helle back to the reception in her dad's 1956 Chevrolet Corvette ... a car that he had painstakingly rebuilt himself.

The reception was held at the highly recommended Hillringsberg Herrgård a beautiful manor house run by Merethe Helgesen and Roy Håkon Eggesvik. Helle and Paul's wedding was spread over 3 days with their family and friends meeting at the manor house for dinner on Friday and leaving after brunch on Sunday. It must be wonderful to have your own manor house for 3 days where you can be together with your friends and family.

The text on Paul's pants (Nygift = Just Married) may have been a little premature but no doubt Helle has seen them by now and approves.

Brenda and Steven

Today we had our rehearsal with Brenda & Steven, their wedding is going to be a real London City Wedding with everything happening near St Pauls.

The ceremony will be held at St Vedast -alias- Foster a church in Foster Lane in the City of London. The original church of St Vedast was founded before 1308 and it has been plagued with fire on two occasions - Firstly in the Great Fire of 1666, and was then gutted a second time during the London Blitz of 1940 and 1941.
In 1950 the church was designated a Grade I listed building - Grade I being having the highest status and is for buildings of outstanding architectural or historic interest.

Walking around the church and its adjacent courtyard Brenda noted how quite and peaceful it was which was quite amazing as just outside was all the bustle of the city. The church is unusual in that the congregation sit opposite each other this makes the aisle wider than normal which will enable us to get some nice shots of Brenda's entrance with her father.

After the wedding we will take the portrait pictures in London's underground which follows the city wedding theme - we are really looking forward to this. The reception will be held at nearby Grange St Pauls Hotel - their guests will have some tremendous views over the city from the roof top venue.

Gillian and Travis

Today we had our rehearsal with Gillian & Travis.
It was great to have met them again as it was a year ago we met for the first time. They will be getting married in the quaint Parish Church of St Andrew in Sandford on Thames in Oxfordshire.

Sandford is listed in the Domesday Book and there were eighteen families listed as living in the village, one family became `de Sandford´and in 1279 St Andrew’s church was founded by Gueres de Palances on the fee of Ralph de Sandford.
The church like all others around the country suffered from The Protestant Reformation and Civil War. Following the royal visitation of 1547-1548 anything connected with the old Catholic religion was thrown out and destroyed - amazingly the 13th century font survived this period and is recorded still being in the church during the 1840’s It no longer exists and its whereabouts are something of a mystery.

We met up with Gillian and Travis at the church just after the Sunday service.
We were greeted by Bob the Vicar a very warm person and a wonderful character - he had only one glass in his glasses and they were held together by a safety pin. Tea and biscuits were being served to those of the congregation that were left, they were all very friendly and we started chatting to a few of the locals - I was struck by how so... British the whole scene was and felt a sense of pride for my country - don't let it change!

We carried on into Oxford to look for a place to take the portrait pictures which we found behind the Town Hall where the reception is to be held. Walking around in the heat we popped into a pub to take a cooling drink - The Bear.
It can only be in England that you pop into a pub off a side street to find that it was built in 1214 - just so amazing. This pub was very special - anyone that belongs to a club or association and is wearing a tie is asked to denote it to the pub - they cut off the end and frame it with your name and date. Their collection is now over 4,500 ties, for our Scandinavian blog readers Travis found a tie denoted by a SAS employee.

We ended up at Oxford Town Hall where the reception will be held, a magnificent hall with a high ceiling painted in green and blue. It is going to be a wonderful wedding and we are looking forward to it.

Exhilarance of speed

Having spent 60+ hours on my Mac editing images I felt that I needed to clear my head :) So my daughter Natalie and I drove to Lagoona Park and hired Jet Bikes for an hour - the cold lake water and the exhilarance of speed did the trick ... back on the Mac again.

Isabelle and Jakob's Wedding

Ceremony: Ingerö Kyrka, Ingerö, Sweden.
Reception: Säby Säteri, Ingerö, Sweden.

Wedding Rings: W.A. Bolin.
Wedding Dress: Lars Wallin.
Brides Shoes: Hassall.
Brides Hair & Make Up: Urban at Björn Axén.
Groom's Shoes & Attire: Lars Wallin.

Isabelle and Jacob were married yesterday at the beautiful Ingerö Church - see previous blog.

They both looked stunning in their clothes designed by Lars Wallin. Jakob's best man was so helpful in helping Jakob get ready that he now wants to employ him as his personal Butler :)

They had been planning their wedding for a long time and on the day everything went as they hoped and planned for ... almost, Isabelle's hair style changed from what was first planned and she was delighted with the result - it really looked stunning and it matched the time period of the vintage A-Ford from 1930 that took them to the church. Her hair stylist Urban was also very pleased with the result and it was a good example of allowing professionals to be allowed to show their creativity.

The church service went very well. Isabelle's mum and sister (bridesmaid) were part of the choir that sang from the balcony, her brother also sang a solo and it was a slightly emotional Isabelle that looked upon her family with pride.

Isabelle had a problem putting the ring on Jacobs finger as suddenly it would not fit .. realising that it was the wrong finger she tried again and to Jakobs relief she was able to slip the ring on - and with that they were pronounced man & wife.

Their guests were treated to a wonderful dinner at Säby Manor House, Isabelle and Jakob have a great interest in wine and they had carefully planned the menu with a matching wine for each course - after dinner the wedding cake was cut and the party began.

Isabelle and Jakob

Today we had our rehearsal with Isabelle & Jakob.
This lovely couple will be getting married at one of Sweden's most popular churches for marriages - Ingarö Kyrka which lies 30 minutes outside of Stockholm in the countryside. Swedish tennis legend Björn Borg married here in 2002.
In the 18th century a priest called Samuel Ödman was out in his rowing boat fishing and fell asleep, he dreamt about a new church in the parish and when his boat ran aground he decided that it was there that the church was to be built- and in 1792 it was completed.

Isabelle & Jacob will be having their reception at the magnificent manor house Säby Säteri.
The original building from 1651 as with many others in the area was burnt down by the Russians in 1719. The manor house was in the ownership of the Leuhusen family from 1651 until 1903 and after the fire it was rebuilt - the current oldest building is the west wing dated 1812.

We are looking greatly forward to their wedding ... and also how they will look as both Isabelle and Jakob have had clothes designed by Lars Wallin the famous Swedish fashion designer.

Gwen and Martin's Wedding

Ceremony: Hunnebostrands Kyrka, Hunnebostrand, Sweden.
Reception: Hugo's Magasin, Bovallstrand, Sweden.

Engagement Ring: Georg Jensen.
Wedding Rings: Tiffany.
Wedding Dress: Romona Keveza.
Brides Shoes: Christian Louboutin.

Gwen and Martin were married yesterday, a wonderful American-Swedish wedding.
Gwen's family and friends had taken with them Texas sun and heat to Sweden - it was a fantastic day at 30° with the sun shining out of a clear blue sky.

The ceremony went very well and was led in Swedish by Martin and in English by Stacy who was a friend of the family and had flown in from the USA. Gwen looked stunning as she walked down the aisle with her father Hugh - Martin was waiting for her and he had a beaming smile as he saw her walking towards him.

The west coast of Sweden is one of our favourite Swedish places and it was great to be there again.
We love the archipelago with its special summer evening light and the coastal landscape with its ''Kobbar & Skär'' (Rock Islands & Skerries). When the ceremony was finished the guests took a short boat trip to the reception whilst we took another fast boat to a Skerry with Gwen & Martin together with Christoffer the Best Man and Gwen's sister Corinne who was also Maid of Honour. On leaving the small harbour Gwen and Martin were greeted by boats blowing their horns and people clapping and cheering - it was good fun.
We spent about 20 minutes on the Skerry taking the portrait pictures and the sea breeze was very welcome on this very hot day as was the chilled champagne on the trip back.

Marianne and Geoff's Wedding

Ceremony & Reception. Micklefield Hall, Hertfordshire.

Brides Wedding Dress: Jenny Packham.
Brides Shoes: Christian Louboutin.

Marianne and Geoff were married yesterday, they had a fantastic wedding day.
All the rain in England could not damper the spirits of this lovely couple. Despite the drizzle we had luck with the weather and on key moments during the day the rain held off and amazingly in the evening it cleared up and there was a lovely red sunset as darkness fell and the disco began.

Micklefield Hall is an astounding wedding location, and it was there that Marianne got ready together with her bridesmaids. Marianne's mum also helped the girls and it was herself that had made the bridesmaids dresses.

On the grounds was a large marquis which was beautifully decorated for their 200+ guests. The lawns were perfect for the children to play on - I saw one lad gleefully chasing one of the hens which abruptly stopped running laid an egg and ran off, the little lad did not know what to make of it and his expression was priceless.

We can vouch that the Greek inspired food was excellent. For the main course a park ranger had slowly cooked 10 pairs of back lamb over an open fire, the wood he used was oak which gave the lamb a special flavour.

Screen writer Geoff had written a fantastic speech, it was witty and entertaining and he delivered it perfectly - his declaration of love towards Marianne was extremely powerful and it moved her and many others to tears.
We left the wedding just after the Greek dancing ... looking back I could see the dance floor was full and the party was well under way.
