Leonie and Philip's Wedding

Ceremony: Church of St John the Baptist, Penshurst, Kent.
Reception: Penshurst Place, Kent.
Brides Wedding Dress: Amanda Wakeley.
Brides Wedding Jewellery: Butler & Wilson.

Yesterday Leonie and Philip were married in the beautiful village of Penshurst in Kent, they had a great day and the weather held out for them with just one small passing light shower.

The colour theme was blue and the church was beautifully decorated in blue flowers, Leonie had a matching bridal bouquet and the same flowers were also used in the magnificent tall table decorations in the Barons Hall at Penshurst Place.

Leonie arrived at the church with her father in a vintage Rover with a second vintage Rover taking her 3 bridesmaids. Philip was waiting in the church and it was a touching moment when they looked at each other for the first time ... even if it did take a couple of minutes, it was as if they were suddenly to shy to look at each other despite having lived together for the past few years ... then Leonie stole a quick glance at Philip and he beamed back - they both smiled and the service began.

At the reception Leonie's Father held the first speech and following tradition it was then Philip's turn followed by his 2 best men .... they were really excellent speeches and they had everyone laughing - I found myself laughing as well and at times it was a bit hard to concentrate on my work - good fun!
Leonie and Philip were surrounded by their friends and family and they had great wedding held in wonderful settings and everything went as it was planned, I can imagine that they will look back on this day and remember it as the perfect wedding day.

Farewell Sweden

Farewell Sweden - Hello England.

After 25 fantastic years of Living in Sweden we are now moving back to England over the weekend - and a new adventure begins for Marianne who despite having visited England a million times has not lived there before.

We have removal boxes everywhere! and it will be relief when it is all done - we are not only moving house but moving a business as well.
Like everyone else that moves after a few years I am just amazed at the amount of junk we have collected!! how is it possible? we have sorted most of it out and have already made a couple of trips with stuff to charity shops.

Our daughter's cat Casper is already in London ... he flew out 3 days ago as cargo on a BA flight and is now in quarantine. It has been our biggest headache and I could write a book about the process we had to go through with the authorities ...

Our business remains the same and we will be keeping our Stockholm office, we will still work between the 2 countries and we are just reversing the situation and will fly in for our Swedish weddings.

25 years ago in Sweden ...

Police cars were painted black and white.

People went to the cinema early because they wanted to watch the adverts (There were only 2 channels on the TV).

'Arbetsförmedlings Platsjournalen' was so thick with job vacancies that it had to printed in 3 parts A,B & C.

At restaurants (there were no pubs) you could only buy alcohol if more than 50% of the bill was food.

At restaurants a beer cost 40kr and a Gin & Tonic 65kr. (Looking back at it's hard to believe it was so expensive in 1984 compared with today's cheap prices).

Olof Palme was Prime Minister.

Swedish tennis player Robin Söderling was born (He just lost in the French Open final).

The Herrey brothers win the Eurovision with the song Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley.

You could buy things with a 'Fem kronas sedel'.

Volvo introduce the 740.

In the Sarajevo winter Olympics Sweden wins 4 Golds, 2 Silvers and 2 bronze medals.

A young Englishman arrives in Stockholm and has Kalles kaviar on his boiled eggs for the first time ... and loved it :)

London's Black Cabs

London Taxi's have just been voted the best in the world. The capital's taxi drivers were named friendliest, safest and had the best knowledge of their city - I am not surprised, I am always amazed at how they find their way around. On the downside London's cabs were rated the most expensive.

They are great to use for weddings - we used this cab to take us around to various locations for the portrait session whilst their guests were transported on another London classic - A Routemaster buss.

In the days when Taxi's were horse drawn they were registered as a "Hackney Carriages" and even today London's Black Cabs are still registered as Hackney Carriages - amusingly an old law (Section 51 of the London Hackney Carriage Act 1831) stated that every London Cab should carry a bale of hay for its horses - after 145 years in 1976 the law was finally repealed.

Other amusing obscure old Hackney carriage laws include: The height of a licensed taxi has to accommodate gentlemen in top hats & It is illegal to flag down a taxi if you have the plague.

Featured Swedish Wedding

In the latest issue of Sweden's leading wedding magazine ''Allt Om Bröllop'' we had a wedding featured over 5 pages.

It was Carin & Mathias's wedding that was held on the small Swedish island of Ven which lies in the straights between Sweden and Denmark.

Nice Emails

Hi Mark

This is just a quickie before we disappear off on our honeymoon... the images that we’ve seen so far are great – exactly what we wanted! We look forward to seeing the the whole lot in a couple of weeks.

Thank you for making the whole photography ordeal effortless and painless on our part and for managing to capture us, our kids and our friends and family... and for making us all look gorgeous. And for conveying the atmosphere and the very essence of what the day was all about for us! Wonderful.

Thank you.
Sarah & Steve x

( It is lovely to get these emails - this one came from Sarah & Steve from our last wedding )

Sarah and Steve's Wedding

Ceremony: Kensington & Chelsea Register Office, London.
Reception: IL Giardino Restaurant, London.

Sarah and Steve were married in Chelsea last Thursday.
This wedding was not only a declaration of love for each other but also for their children. Once the ceremony was over the children gathered around Sarah and Steve and read in turn some lovely passages about love and marriage to them - it was touching and a lovely gesture by them - Sarah and Steve were very moved by it.

Leaving the building they were greeted by friends and relations who threw petals at them and some passing cars on the Kings Road honked their horns. It was just a short walk to the reception where chilled champagne was being opened and they were greeted by more of their friends and family. Sarah looked stunning and she and Steve looked very happy as they were mingling with their friends in the sunshine on this lovely special sunny Spring day.
