Three years ago Marianne and I became the first wedding photographers in Sweden and Scandinavia to be invited to join the prestigious Wedding Photojournalist Association - The WPJA.
We have now both been invited to join the [AG]WPJA The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association. We shall shortly start a new gallery showing some of our work.
Taken from the [AG]WPJA website:
The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association [AG]WPJA is a group of international wedding photojournalists, who capture unscripted wedding moments as they happen, and excel in the art of post-production image processing. The [AG]WPJA is a division within the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA); one which specifically promotes Fine Art Wedding Photojournalism.

Marianne and I were at Stockholm's Modern Museum on Sunday to look at the German Photographer Andreas Gursky's exhibition.
Andreas exhibited some amazing work, he is well-known for his large-scale photography and some of the photographs were some 10 meters long and were stunning, most of the photographs had to be reduced in size enabling his 140 works to be shown in one exhibition - which is his largest to date.
His style reminds me of 2 other favourite photographers of ours - Martin Parr (England) and Lars Tunbjörk (Sweden).
His exhibition is highly recommended and will be at the Moderna Museet until the 3rd of May.

Aletta & Chris

On Friday we had our rehearsal with Chris.
Aletta and Chris's guests which includes many from Sweden will be treated to some fantastic settings during the day.
Their Civil Ceremony will be held at the Iron Mongers Hall in the Barbrican. It is a great setting - so much so that The Ironmongers Hall has been featured on television and in films - including scenes from Harry Potter and the Goblets of Fire.
Leaving the Hall and walking around the City Of London with Chris I discovered that we had a mutual interest in London History and Chris was telling me some of the history around The River Fleet which runs under Fleet Street giving it its name. We found a nice spot for the portrait session which will be divided into 2 locations: around St Paul's Cathedral and a location along the River Thames using the city as a backdrop.
Whilst we are taking the portrait pictures their guests will transported on a London Buss to the reception which will be held at the RAC Club on the Pall Mall.
This 100 year old private club is full of heritage and charm, above the reception on the first floor gallery are wonderful paintings and a contemporary mural which is some 20 meters long depicting an English summer. The reception will be held in the luxurious surroundings of the Mountbatten Room. |

Michelle & Steven

On Saturday we had our rehearsal with Michelle & Steven.
On arriving at the Lanesborough Hotel on Hyde Park Corner to meet Michelle and Steven I noticed some paparazzi photographers hanging around outside and I was a little unsure as to why but was later to find out that Michael Jackson was staying at the hotel.
It is not surprising that Michael Jackson also chooses this discreet luxury hotel, it is a beautiful building originally built in 1719 and was once the old St. Georges Hospital - there is little that Londoners cherish so much as their historical heritage and it was more a milestone than a commercial event when this luxury hotel opened in 1991.
Michelle & Steven's Civil Ceremony will be held in the St. Georges Room which is overlooked by the Wellington Arch on Hyde Park Corner.
Their guests will be treated to some luxurious surroundings during the day and the wedding breakfast will be held in the magnificent yellow Belgravia Room.

Our latest wedding album design shows Alexandra and Rod's wedding held at the Ritz Hotel, London.
We just love these contemporary hand made matted albums, the cover has a black and white image mounted under clear acrylic with the spine and back covered in premium black leather.
The album contains 30 sides 2 of which are 'flip' pages which open out showing a 3 page spread, the mats are in black with a white beveled edge around the photographs, the page edges are protected by silver metal corners.

Yesterday we had a meeting at Sweden's leading wedding magazine Allt Om Bröllop (All about Weddings), and It was great to have met Anna again (Anna Fürst, Editor-in-Chief).
Anna is vivacious and highly professional, she is the sort of person that you always look forward to seeing again.
Vivacious - lively, spirited, active, alert, bouncy, brash, breezy, bubbling, cheerful, ebullient, effervescent, exuberant, frolicsome, full of life, happy, high-spirited, jolly, jumping, keen, lighthearted, merry, playful, rocking, scintillating, sparkling, sportive, sprightly, swinging, upbeat, vibrant, vital, zesty.
We already have a close working relationship with Allt Om Bröllop which we are delighted to say has now been extended.
Swedish Brides will be able to see many of our illustration wedding pictures in most issues and also on the Allt Om Bröllop website, in some issues we will also have our weddings featured over 2-3 pages.
We greatly look forward to seeing the forth coming issues during 2009 and we are proud to be associated with this fantastic wedding magazine.

Having just read the novel The Darkest Room by Johan Theorin I noticed that Johan has thanked myself on the authors page - what a nice surprise, thanks yourself Johan.
With just an old unclear photograph I was able to help Johan find the quay in Stockholm where his uncle's ship used to be moored. I took this portrait of him at the same place.
The Darkest Room (Nattfåk in Swedish) was voted the Best Swedish Crime Novel of 2008 and is the second in a planned quartet of novels set on the Swedish island of Öland, the novel is still on the current best seller list.
Assignment for Dagens Nyheter.

Today is Saint David's Day
|

Being 25% Welsh myself I hope all the Welsh have a great Saint David's Day.
Tradition has it that one of the national symbols of Wales the Daffodil or the Leek (Påsklilja & Purjolök in Swedish) should be worn today ... I am not quite sure what the Swedes would make of it if I walked around Stockholm today with a Leek pinned to my jacket - so I will do the next best thing and like all true welshmen I shall be eating leeks today. |
