Today we had our rehearsal with Kristine & Joakim at Skebo Herrgård and Häverö church.
Skebo Herrgård is a country manor house dating back to the 18th century, it lies on a site rich in history - Skebo was first mentioned in the 13th century as having a windmill and was later to become known for its Iron works that were run for 300 years until they closed in 1924.
The manor house today is full of charm and surprises - you didn't really know what to expect going from one room to another .. Miss Marple would feel at home here.
I was fasinated to find one room decorated with elephant wallpaper complete with framed pictures of foxes, but perhaps the biggest surprise was to find on the 3rd floor the largest pool table i had ever seen.
Kristina and Joakim will have the manor house mainly to themselves where they will relax with friends and family over a weekend - they are going to have some great fun.

Grandads Brownie model C |

My dad has just given me his Brownie camera that his dad gave him.
I now own my Grandads camera which is great fun, I remember him using it taking pictures of us when we were kids. I shall try to get some film for it and show my daughter the basics of photography - thinking about it that would mean 4 generations in our family would have used this great old classic camera.
A quick internet search turns up (not surprisingly) a Brownie club - this model was made between 1953-57.

London - Wedding Photographers convention - day 4: Ken Sklute |

Today I met Ken Sklute on his special talk about understanding light and the use of flashes to show depth and dimension.
Ken showed some of his work which was 'breathtaking' to me Ken's talk was one of the highlights of this convention, the way he works is similar in my own approach - the use of natural light combined with flash photography when required or desired.

London - Wedding Photographers convention - day 2: Mark Nixon & Eileen Mason and Bill Johnson. |

Another inspiring day - amongst the speakers were Mark Nixon & Eileen Mason and Bill Johnson.
Mark believed in himself so much that he took out a second mortgage on his home to open his studio in Dublin, he has never looked back and has been in the black ever since.
Eileen and Bill are husband and wife partnership, a great couple who have been in the business a long time, Eileen being the creative part and Bill taking on the business part.
I was amazed at their ability to change with the times over the last 28 years in which their business has been running, their highly successful custom made studio has to be one of the best around.

I am attending the SWPP wedding photographers convention in London - I hope to be inspired by some of the leading photographers in their field - a good start on day 1 was listening to the talk given by Marilyn Sholin.
Marilyn was an excellent speaker and artist, her vision of Digital Art was very inspiring - it is a photographic art form that is new to me and I have not seen before.

We would like to wish all our couples a Happy New Year -!!
We have a lot of great weddings booked in England and Sweden this year and we are looking forward to our first which will be Kristine and Joakim in Sweden on the 2nd of February.
Our new years resolution is to complete the New York Marathon on the 2nd of November.
The old training shoes have been found and dusted and the very first (walking) training of 8km (5 miles) will be done today.
