I am just recently back from a trip to Smögen on the west coast having visited friends and taking stock photographs.
It was Interesting to see Smögen just coming out of the winter - in just a few short weeks this empty (apart from a man and his poodle) seaside front will be packed with thousands of tourists.
I love doing these 'walkabouts' there is no planning, its just taking shots of things that catch my eye - it is my favourite form of photography .. one man and his camera sort of thing. |

I was assigned by Swedish Television to photograph former Us Vice President Al Gore together with Stina Lundberg Dabrowski in her chat show - Stina.
The assignment was to have been a lot of various shots of them together in the studio with the production scenery as a back drop - alas all the media interviews took longer than expected and the shot turned out to be a just a 30 second improvised portrait in a corridor. |

I was quite pleased with this shot of Mauro.
I wanted to do a shot with a street feeling, having met Mauro I noticed a bar which had a little table and chair outside on the pavement - perfect for the shot and good luck for me.
There was a time window of about 10 minutes to do this picture, I wanted the twilight of the city before it became to dark and black - the tricky bit was to use just enough fill in flash from the side to pick him out of the shadows.

Expressen phoned me yesterday and asked me if I had a couple booked for the 7th of July as they were going to do an article about that wedding date - yes, I replied we have a great fun couple booked - Katarina & Thomas !
Expressen's story was around the fact that the 7th of July has the magic figures of 070707, and that a lot of people have chosen to get married on just that day, a lot of luck is associated with the number 7.
Katarina & Thomas were perfect for the story as they have had lots of luck in their wedding plans, their chosen church was fully booked and then they suddenly had a call to tell them that there was a time available - their chosen venue was booked and then they had a call to say it was available - their chosen wedding photographers were booked (Myself and Marianne) and we also ringed them and offered them the date due to a cancellation.Katarina & Thomas got engaged on 060606 ... it makes you wonder what will happen 080808.Katarina has a managerial position for a large company in the city, a job which can be quite stressful ... to wind down she drives a city buss on Saturdays ... if she has had a very stressful week she would do a double shift - what a girl.
On her wedding day she will be driving all the guests from the church to the venue in a city buss - in her wedding dress ... needless to say we are greatly looking forward to photographing their wedding.

The 2006 WPJA End of Year Contest was announced today, the contests take place four times each year. I was delighted to have been awarded 2nd & 3rd place prizes in the Category 'Action' Marianne was also delighted with her top ten shot in the category 'Transportation'
2nd Place 'Action'
JUDGES COMMENTS: The texture, composition and moment are great. Groom's face is perfectly framed within the confetti burst. The framing of the house is strong and makes the whole image very bold. This is an explosion of action at a moment that can be very hard to capture well.
3rd Place 'Action'
JUDGES COMMENTS: I just love the cacophony of flowers that fill the frame but we are still able to see the expressions on the faces of the couple.
9th Place 'Transportation'
JUDGES COMMENTS: I loved the campy feel to this wedding getaway photo. I kind of wish it would have been a little wider in scope (shot a little looser) and wished that the photographer had stepped back with a slightly less wide lens to minimize the whole junk in the trunk effect on the rear of the car. Cool photo!
We are both over the moon with our success in the 2006 WPJA competition which has resulted in:Two 1st place awards.

It was fascinating to have met and listened to the story told by Johan Lundgren, Managing Director & Lottie Knutson, Information Director both from the travel company Fritidsresor.
They had recently been part of a case study at Harvard Business School on how they and their company handled the crisis during the first few days of the tsunami catastrophe 2004.
Johan & Lottie's swift actions and decision making during the those first few days were in strong contrast to the inept Swedish government that was bogged down in bureaucracy.
Lottie's information director roll put her in the media spotlight where she soon became highly admired and respected by the Swedish people.
